Shane’s wife, Sonia Leishman:  “All too often we hear tragic stories about people committing suicide. What we don’t cover enough or talk about here are the fallen. By fallen, I mean those that attempt to commit suicide and live through their attempt.

Check on the Men in your life. Check often, look for subtle clues. Speak up and act upon your instincts before it’s too late. Oh, how I wish I would have known where he was in his head.

My Husband has undergone several life-saving and reconstructive surgeries as well as needing several more to sure up the use of his mouth and throat. It appears he has suffered some extent of brain damage.

He currently has a feeding tube and a trachea tube that will stay in place until they can perform several more surgeries to try and make his mouth more functional. His body isn’t healing as well as they had hoped due to the trauma it suffered, and he has been doing hyperbaric treatments daily for over four months now. They installed a titanium plate as well as bone, tissue, skin, muscle, and arteries from his hips and arms to his face and neck.

The transplant sight has been failing and will most likely need intervention in order to not undo all of the progress he has made. Prayers and blessings for strength and healing for all those touched by this experience, please.

Shane has been our only source of income for some time now. Due to health issues of my own, I am no longer able to work. Putting an even greater burden on Shane’s shoulders.

Shane is a very loving father to 5 kids ranging in age from 9-24 all of whom are still living at home.
